Personal Histories: Multicultural Memoirs

This class explores contemporary memoirs by writers from diverse social backgrounds. Personal narratives are profoundly shaped by differences in race, class, ethnicity, gender, and geography—as well as the specific historical context in which a life unfolds.

Women's Cultures/Women's Lives

Women's Culture/Women's Lives is a reading group that explores contemporary fiction and memoir by women of many cultures—with the inclusion of a classic or two and, to round things out, an occasional male author writing about women.

Seeking Your Voice: Poetry Workshop

SOUTH FLORIDA: Trip to the Everglades

The Wellesley Club of Naples Invites you on a Trip to the Everglades! The 11th Annual Marjory Stoneman Douglas Festival. The Festival, a five day event, celebrates the life (1890-1998) and work of
Wellesley Class of 1912 graduate Marjory Stoneman Douglas. Marjory was an early feminist and environmentalist. Her serious involvement with preserving the Everglades began when she was 78!
She was dubbed “Mother of the Everglades,” by President Bill Clintonand awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1993 -- the only Wellesley graduate to receive this honor. A prolific writer, she is perhaps best known for her 1947 book, “Everglades: River of Grass.”

Medieval and Renaissance Lives- Sara Lipton '84

As part of this series, alumni of the university will discuss in an informal setting their academic and professional trajectories, as well as their current work. On March 2, 6-8 pm, in the Ella Weed Room, we'll hear from Sara Lipton, an alumna of Barnard, who will talk about her experience teaching at SUNY Stony Brook. She may also sign copies of her forthcoming book.

Join us for a fun, volunteer event at Cradles to Crayons (located at 155 North Beacon, Brighton, MA) on Sunday, March 8th. Volunteers will help by organizing and preparing care packages of clothes, toys and other basic essentials, which will then be sent to children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations. This is a great opportunity to get involved, give back to our community and meet some fellow Barnard alumnae.
