Columbia Athletics honored Ari Brose '84 with the Athletics Alumni Award at the 92nd Annual Varsity C Celebration. Brose is a member of the Columbia Athletics Women's Leadership Council and was named one of the 25 most influential alumnae in the history of the Columbia-Barnard Athletic Consortium.

Alumna in Action, March 2013: Erica Bell '06
Erica Bell ’06 envisioned a career in fashion before she even got to Barnard. New York became the setting where she created a network and developed a resume that started her on her way. Bell is now the co-founder of the new and massively popular online personal shopping service, Hukkster.com.

Recap: Athena Film Festival
Despite Nemo, the mega-blizzard that hit New York on Friday, making travel nearly impossible from Long Island, Connecticut, and parts of New Jersey, the third annual Athena Film Festival went on as scheduled before record audiences. A joint project of Barnard’s Athena Center for Leadership Studies and Women and Hollywood, the festival showed features, documentaries and shorts that highlight women’s leadership in real life and the fictional world.

Alumnae in Action, February 2013: Elizabeth Housman '03 and Sarah Housman '03
All medical doctors must go undergo the grueling training period of hospital residency, a period hallmarked by long hours and little sleep. Sarah and Elizabeth Housman, both Class of ’03, are in the midst of their residencies, but they are lucky enough to have each other as a support system. They are twins and residents in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston. Both their spouses are residents at Beth Israel as well, forming a unique family network.

Constance Hess Williams ’66 Endows Directorship of Athena Center
Constance Hess Williams ’66, Barnard trustee from 1990 to 2000 and a former Pennsylvania State Senator, will endow the directorship of the Athena Center for Leadership Studies. With this gift, Kathryn Kolbert, a renowned civil-rights attorney who has led the Athena Center since its launch in 2009, will become the Constance Hess Williams Director.
