Did you know that every alumna is automatically a part of a group for her class year? Once you've activated your account, you can catch up with your former classmates on your class's group page. There are several ways to access your class group and other groups.
Finding your class group
Just click "My Groups" in the top right area of your screen when you are logged in. This will bring you to a page of groups, some of which you have automatically been added to, others you may have joined yourself. Click on your class group and you will be taken to your class group where you can see class notes others have shared, participate in or start a discussion, RSVP for class events, find out who your class correspondents are, share pictures, view a map of your classmates around the world, or even have a class chat.
Finding other class groups
You can also see what other class year's are up to by visiting their class group pages. You can't join the group of a class you were not a part of, but you can view it and send messages to individuals in the group. You can find other classes by click the "Search" tab in My Groups or by clicking
"Communities" in the top site navigation and the "Groups" on the left side navigation. Type in the class year you are interested in viewing, press Enter. When the search brings up the group, click the title and view the class group page. Note: You can search for
many kinds of groups this way, not just class groups.
Shortcut to visit any class group
If searching seems too complicated, here's a tip: Class groups each have shortcuts that you can type into your browser window to be taken directly to the class group page (just make sure you've activated your account so that you can log in)! Simply type "
http://alum.barnard.edu/CLASSYEAR". For example, to visit the group page for the class of 1972, type in
http://alum.barnard.edu/1972 and you'll be taken right there!
