Barnard Cognitive Development Center Seeks Volunteers

Barnard Cognitive Development Center is looking for local alumnae with 5-month-olds through 8-year-olds to participate in fun, one-time cognitive development studies!

Led by Assistant Professor Koleen McCrink, PhD, the Barnard Cognitive Development Center is currently researching how children learn about the world around them, focusing specifically on the development of their mathematical knowledge. We are looking for local, volunteer-minded parents who are interested in science, mathematics, and education.  These studies, for children as young as 5 months to 8 years of age, last from 10 to 30 minutes and are fun, child-friendly, and a fantastic way to learn more about the way your child thinks about the world and to be part of cutting-edge developmental science.

We will provide you with a $5 travel reimbursement for volunteering, and you and your child will have the option to choose between a small thank-you toy or a complimentary family pass to the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, located on 83rd Street between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues here in Manhattan.

Appointments can be scheduled for any time between 9 and 6, Monday through Friday, with weekend slots occasionally available. We are located in Milbank Hall on Barnard’s campus, in room 014.  To schedule an appointment, or to have any questions or concerns answered, please call us at 212-854-0236, or send us an email at barnardkids@gmail.com.  We very much look forward to hearing from you!
